The Fantastic Playgrounds of Spain: José Luis Sampedro Park
Located on the grounds of the Galileo Cultural Center in the Arapiles section of Chamberí.
Parque José Luis Sampedro lovely walled-in park attached to the community center in Chamberí neighborhood. Lots of shade from trees, a terrace cafe that looks over the playground (which is fenced in as well). Terrace cafe was closed the last time I visited, maybe it's only open in the afternoons or on weekends?
Bring your scooters and bikes: there is a really awesome bike circuit on the grounds. The playground equipment is perfect for preschoolers.
Lovely shady park. The bike circuit is pictured in the distance. |
Logistics: It's about equidistant between Quevedo and Moncloa metro stops. However, Quevedo metro does not have an elevator (as of May 2024). If you are toting a stroller, you probably want to take the Moncloa stop to get there. There are bathrooms located right in the Cultural Center, which also has a theater.
